Teething Relief for Tiny Tots!

Teething relief for tiny tots

Well, if you’re reading this, you’ve probably already been through teething, but a baby hasn’t. We care about the health of our patients at Dr. Motiwala Dental Clinic & Implant Centre, which is why we want to give you useful information about how to care for a baby who needs help from teething. It’s no secret that new parents have a lot to do, so Dr. Motiwala wants to tell you that you still need to take care of yourself in the midst of the chaos of a new baby. It will be good for your baby.

Since your baby won’t need to see a dentist until most of his or her tiny new teeth have come in (around age 3), it’s up to you to take care of their teeth. But you don’t have to do it by yourself! Dr. Motiwala Dental Clinic & Implant Centre wants all babies to have healthy mouths. Please call us with any questions or worries, and Dr. Motiwala will help you.

Teething Explained

As your baby grows and develops, their baby teeth will appear. This is something that every baby has to go through, but it is very uncomfortable for the baby and generally makes the baby cry a lot. There is no surefire way to stop a baby from getting teeth, and many parents, especially new ones, may not know how to help their baby feel better while they are getting teeth. The best thing you can do is learn about chewing and realize that every baby will have different problems as their teeth come in.

When Does Teething Start?

In a way, their teeth are already being made in their jawbones before they are even born. About 12 weeks after birth, those teeth will start to break through the gums, but that’s just the start. About twice as long will pass before you can see the teeth coming in. Keep an eye on your baby’s lower gums because the two front bottom teeth are the first ones to come in. This normally happens when the baby is between 6 and 9 months old, but don’t worry if you don’t see the little teeth right away.

When can you expect your child to smile with their teeth? When your child is three years old, they should have all 20 of their baby teeth.

How to Make The Process Easier?

First of all, Dr. Motiwala wants all parents to know that there is no fix for teething, no matter what they read or hear. In fact, it is wrong to think of teething as a disease because it is a natural and very important part of a baby’s growth.

Even so, it will be a painful experience for both the kid and the parents. So how do you deal with it? Here are some ways to make chewing less painful:

  • Using a clean finger or a wet cloth pad on your baby’s gums will help ease some of the pain.
  • When they are cool, teething rings work very well to ease the pain of chewing.
  • In fact, almost any clean, cool, and not too hard object can help a baby who is chewing.
  • Make sure to wipe your baby’s face clean of drool to keep them from getting a rash, which would cause them extra pain.
  • To keep their gums clean, use a wet washcloth, gauze pad, or even a soft, special baby toothbrush (no toothpaste, just water).
  • Everyone has a hard time when they’re teething, but if you follow these tips, your baby will come out of it better than ever.
